Get the Facts: Gas Prices

On President Biden’s first day in office he also fired the first shot in his war on fossil fuels by canceling the Keystone XL pipeline. That decision cost a Wisconsin construction company approximately 2,000 union jobs, and signaled the Biden administration’s policy of purposefully driving up the price of gasoline and other energy powered by fossil fuels. In other words, record high gasoline didn’t just happen, it is the direct and desired result of the radical left green energy policies that have been fully embraced by the Biden administration and its Democrat enablers in Congress.

If you need further proof, look no further than this segment of a CNN interview that took place on June 30, 2022 with President Biden’s Director of the National Economic Council, Brian Deese.

CNN: “What do you say to those families that say, ‘listen, we can’t afford to pay $4.85 a gallon for months, if not years?’”

BIDEN ADVISOR BRIAN DEESE: “This is about the future of the Liberal World Order and we have to stand firm.”

You are paying record gasoline prices to ensure the successful future of the “Liberal World Order.” How does that make you feel? Unfortunately, that’s only one part of what President Biden meant when he promised to “fundamentally transform” America. Other elements include an open border and flood of illegal immigration, 40-year high inflation, rising crime, the indoctrination of our children, and a shortage of baby formula. President Biden and his merry band of radical leftists are fundamentally destroying our country. They have to be stopped.

Becoming energy independent was a bipartisan goal for decades, ever since the restrictions in oil production by OPEC led to a dramatic rise in oil prices in the 1970s. We finally achieved that energy independence, just like we largely gained control of our border, under the Trump administration. President Biden squandered away both achievements.

These choices don’t only affect the price of gasoline. All energy produced using fossil fuels is also more expensive. Because every product and service you use has an energy cost component, those higher energy prices contribute to higher inflation. Add to all that the trillions of dollars of deficit spending (which requires the printing of massive amounts of money) and you predictably end up with runaway inflation – 8.6% over the last twelve months ending in May.

The hard reality is this: A dollar you held when President Biden took office is now worth less than ninety cents. That’s why you’re paying more for groceries and just about every other product and service you purchase.

Despite all this, the Biden administration and Democrats remain committed to these policies and higher gasoline and energy prices. That’s why they and their allies are restricting the issuance of permits and throwing just about every roadblock imaginable in the way of increasing fossil fuel production. But because they fear being held accountable in November, President Biden has been reduced to begging the Saudis and Venezuelans to produce more oil for us to import.

We can’t let them get away with this cynicism and hypocrisy. Democrats need to be swept from power in November and helping me win re-election in November is crucial to holding Democrats accountable. To date, Democrats and their allies have spent more than $70 million on false attack ads to defeat me. I will need significant help to effectively counter their lies and distortions.
